Multenet has developed a Dual-SIM 3G+ modem featuring two SIM slots for provider redundancy.
The second slot enables users to connect to a backup service provider, should their preferred provider become unavailable, in effect broadening coverage.
The Multenet Dual Connect modem supports 3G HSUPA (High Speed Upload Packet Access) an enhancement to the 3G mobile standard offering higher upload speed. The enhancement makes the technology particularly suited to hosted applications.
The modem, designed and developed in South Africa, will be available to OEM customers by the end of April 2010, once initial testing is complete.
It will be supported on all major operating systems, including Microsoft Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows7, Linux and Apple Mac OS 10.
